The 2024 elections are coming up fast! Make sure you have all the information you need to vote. Researching before voting is a vital part of any election for both the candidates and the balloters. This year’s election will be a tough verdict so let’s break it down.
The Boulder City Council is one of the many important elections. Boulder City residents will be choosing between two candidates to elect to Boulder City City Council: Denise E. Ashurst and Matt Fox. Information on Denise Ashurst can be found at electdenisebc.com, and information about Matt Fox can be found at mattfox4bc.com.
Another important election is the Nevada state election. The state level elections will probably impact the daily lives of Nevadans more than any other. This is because we will be electing new members of the Nevada Legislature who will be passing the laws that affect Nevadans most. There are also seven statewide ballot questions on the general election ballot this November. Each question has the potential to make significant changes to how we live, learn, or vote. For example, did you know that the Nevada Constitution does not prohibit all forms of slavery? Believe it or not, the Nevada Constitution still allows slavery for people that have been convicted of a crime. In the November election, Question Number 4 on the ballot will allow Nevada voters to vote to amend the Nevada Constitution to permanently change this language.
Last, but not least, America will choose a new president in the coming election. Donald Trump was President from 2016 to 2020 and will be trying to get his old job back. Kamala Harris, the current Vice President, will be attempting to become the first female President and the second African American President. It should be a close election, so if you are registered, get out there and vote!
Although the election is officially held on November 5th, early voting will begin on October 19. The best part of the election? No school! To allow teachers and registered students to vote, school will be closed on election day.

He also helped the Middle-Class family income increase nearly $6,000 – more than five times the gains made during the previous administration.
After losing a re-election bid in 2020, Donald Trump came out in November of 2022 to say that his fight is not over, and he decided to run again in the 2024 election. With a new election, Trump has also provided some new promises and new standards to bring to the table. Understanding Electoral College
Do you know what the electoral college is? Well if you do not know what it is, don’t worry because many people don’t either.
The electoral college is a part of the process when voting for a president or vice president. This process happens every 4 years.
When the citizens vote (which is called the popular vote or votes), their vote doesn’t directly affect who will be the president. The citizens’ votes actually elect who will be chosen to be in the group of 538 people, this group is what is considered the electoral college.
States get the same amount of electors as they have the members of congress. Washington D.C however has no members in their congress but they still get three electors.
The United States has two different political groups (the democrats and the republicans) each citizen chooses whom they want to be president and vice president. Both political parties choose who the group of electors will be.
The electors promise to vote for their political groups’ candidates. When you and other citizens vote for the candidates of the party they are choosing their political groups electors for their whole state.
In every state except for Nebraska and Maine, the group that wins the popular vote sends their electors to the electoral college. After the group of the electoral college people vote, the president/ vice president that has the most votes will become the president.
How it Started:
The electoral college started in 1787. It started mostly because the people who wrote the constitution did not trust the citizens or voters.
This method or process is usually a reliable and fair method. However, sometimes the candidate that won the popular vote doesn’t win the electoral votes which means they lose the election . This has happened to Rutherford Hayes, Harrison, and Trump and a few others.
