Coach Roe is one of the most beloved teachers here at BCHS; he has worked at Boulder for 25 years.. Currently he teaches English to 9th, 10th, and 11th graders.
Mr. Roe started at BCHS in 2001, working at both Laughlin and Basic prior to here, meaning he has been a part of CCSD since 1992. He has a great relationship with his students, Senior Lyndsea Brown agrees with this statement, commenting “Mr. Roe has always been really supportive in his classes and is always there to help someone if they need it! He is super nice and always makes sure to include everyone and make them feel welcome and comfortable! I notice he always stands in the hallways and says hi to everyone in the morning!”
Mr. Roe has also been a coach for a few different sports here at BCHS. In his time here, Roe has coached Girl’s Basketball, Boy’s Football and Track – with his overall favorite to coach being Track and Field. He has a history with sports teams even prior to being a coach; while in high school he played basketball, football and ran track. He found the most success in football, receiving a full ride scholarship for football to the University of Wyoming as a lineman. At the University of Wyoming, he got a degree in English Education and followed in his mother’s footsteps to become a teacher.
A lot like other teachers here at BCHS, Coach Roe’s kids went to BCHS and played sports here. His daughter, Maggie Roe, is even a coach here at BCHS; she is the high jump and long jump coach for the track team. When asked what makes Mr. Roe so important to our school, our Assistant Principal, Mr. Steckelberg, said, “Mr. Roe has a lot of wisdom, he is very wise. He is always quick to have a story or share a story, he is a great friend on campus.”
Everyone at BCHS appreciates what Mr. Roe does for the school and the education he has provided for his students – make sure to say hello to him in our hallways.
