Eric Torrence is a student that deserves recognition, but doesn’t ask for it. Why, you may wonder? His impact on his environment as well as those around him is anything but unnoticed. He’s the type of person that interests people without trying.
Eric Torrence is an outstanding senior here at Boulder City HS, but he’s so much more than that. He’s creative, and incredibly talented. He enjoys music, as we all do, but also carries the self initiative and drive to teach himself to play guitar. Eric stated that he looks forward to seeing where it takes him, but he has other things to anticipate, too. Furthermore, he’s an incredible athlete, his skills varying across soccer, track, volleyball, and more.
Eric isn’t just a leader on the field, but strives to be a leader in the workforce as well. He is working towards being a firefighter paramedic. It piqued his interest because it was a way for him to assist and comfort other people, particularly in their times of need. He’s excited to hopefully attend ASU, a place close to his heart and home, to achieve this. However he’s intending on transferring after his second year of college, to finish his degree in another state.
Throughout his high school years, Eric has faced his fair share of ups and downs. The best piece of advice he has to give is, “Stay true to yourself and be proud of who you are”. He described his own challenges that he’s experienced, such as losing a person incredibly close to him, and how that shaped his view on life. He advises that overall, it’s most important to take life day by day and be grateful for every second, as it will pass by faster than it seems. His favorite piece of high school were the memories he has to bring throughout the rest of his life, not an object or something of material value. So, make the most of all the moments, good and bad, because you’ll carry them much farther than any item.
