Many people entering Boulder City can see the construction by the cross streets Boulder City Parkway and Buchanan near the 7-11. You may be wondering what it is or when it’s coming. Well, it’s a new expansion to the train museum. They plan on adding a visitor center, linear park, railroad exhibit displays, and a Henderson track expansion.
The new visitor center includes a passenger loading platform for the excursion trains. They recently developed parking for guests that come to the museum as well as a bus unloading zone for school trips and tours.
The linear park will run adjacent to the new road leading to the museum. The park will include an outdoor amphitheater, a railroad themed children’s playground, leisure areas, and more bathrooms.
The railroad exhibit displays will have a standard gauge and narrow gauge track for the indoor display and interpretation and track and shade structures will be built adjacent to the current museum display adding more display area and shelters that help protect the rolling stock.
The museum will extend the tracks into Henderson. They want to extend it to be a mile longer into Henderson. They state that, “ to cross the I-11 bridge then proceed down a section of track before stopping at Paradise Hills Drive and returning to Boulder City.” They are still trying to decide who will own the track, Boulder City or Henderson.
So whether you love trains or just want to see what the new Boulder City Train Museum looks like, take a trip and come and experience the new train museum!
