Flag Football has been played at Boulder City High School since 2011. The Flag football team has three teams, B-Team, Junior Varsity, and Varsity. All three teams have astonishing chemistry and connections with each other.
Last Year, the B team gained a new coach, Coach Carducci. Before coaching at Boulder City High School, Carducci had no prior experience coaching flag football. Carducci remarked, “Last Year definitely had its challenges, but it was definitely rewarding!”
This year, JV coach, Coach Cameron is now the new Head Coach for the whole program! She had started coaching in the Flag Football Program in the 2011-2012 season. Cameron says, “I am extremely excited for this opportunity. This was one of my dreams as well as a goal.”
Coach Mariani has also joined the Flag Football Program this year. He’s accompanying Coach Reese in coaching Varsity. Mariani has noticed some differences in coaching boys’ tackle vs. girls’ flags. The main difference he sees is the positive attitudes, high spirits, and all the laughs the girls share at practice. Bubba states, “I am ridiculously excited to be coaching flag football.”
There are many strong, determined freshmen who have shown interest in flag football. Freshmen Addison Welbourne and Brooklyn Rose agree that there is a strong community and endless chemistry during practices.
All coaches have high expectations for all teams not just during their athletics, but also in their education. They hope to win state this year. Coach Mariani says, “Winning state is the plan, and we need to so I can finally get a haircut!”
Three underclassmen have been pulled up to higher levels in the program this year this year. Sophomores, Malley Jobin and Hannah Stark and Freshman, Nev Schenk. These girls demonstrate exceptional dedication both on the field and in the classroom. Malley and Hannah are on Varsity and Nev is on Junior Varsity.
Coach Cameron states, “My expectations are extremely high for student-athletes to be successful on and off the field!” Don’t doubt these girls, their first home game is on December 4th. Keep cheering on your Lady Eagles!
