Mr. Schulz is one of the most beloved teachers here at BCHS, but he also has a lot of history with our school. He has been everything from a student athlete to a teacher and a coach as an Eagle. Mr. Schulz attended BCHS as a student and graduated in 1986. He played baseball and bowling all four years of high school for BCHS as well as a little bit of football.
Mr. Schulz attended Metro State University in Denver for his undergraduate and then attended the University of New Hampshire for his graduate studies. He majored in Mathematics and minored in Business management and Science. Although he did not play any sports at the collegiate level, he kept playing club level baseball and softball.
When asked why he became a teacher he said, “Mostly my teachers, people who were affected; particularly Mrs. Nelson, my junior math teacher. She gave me extra challenging problems to push me and showed me how teachers can affect students’ lives.” Since then he had always wanted to be a teacher and a coach.
Since he started working as a teacher, he coached “quite a bit of baseball”, he was the head coach for JV football for 7 years, he coached softball for a couple years, and has been the bowling coach for the last 16-17 years. Along with currently coaching bowling, Mr. Schulz is in charge of the Robotics program and has been for 11 years. The robotics program participates in several tournaments during the season. For the size of our program, we have been very successful and last year were a part of the winning alliance at the Las Vegas Regional. Mr Schulz is a great teacher and continues to inspire and help students at our school to grow into good people.
