Another great start to the BCHS tennis season! All of the tennis players have been persistently practicing in the heat getting ready for this new season. This season we have some good competition, but nevertheless BCHS is ready! This season we have some amazing coaches including Rachelle Huxford, Boen Huxford, and Borg.
Freshman Tennis player Lyla Gunson states, “ Tennis is such a fun way to meet new people and be part of a team. The tennis coaches have been working so hard to prepare the team for the season. We are so excited!”
Coach Rachelle Huxford states that the best part of coaching is how, “interacting with the athletes make me want to be a better person.“ She also states, “I hope each person that leaves the program feels that they have bettered their life by being a part of the program.” Lyla Gunson states, “ I have improved so much even if I’ve only been on the team for a short amount of time. I love being on a team with so many great people and great coaches!”
Senior Ava Gibson states, “ I love tennis and my coaches are always so involved and have helped me grow so much in tennis. I am going to miss everyone on the team. I am going to be so sad to leave but I also had the best memories while on this team.” Coach Rachelle Huxford replied, “ I have two favorite memories, one was the 2022 boys championship we went against Meadows. The whole season we have lost against them. The night before the match we switched up our line up and surprised the other team and won! Another one of my favorite memories is the 2023 Girls State Championship when the girls won their first title!”
This season so far has been a substantial one for the BCHS tennis team. Girls tennis currently has won against Cimarron Memorial 10-9 with a last minute tie breaker. All of the starters played a tie breaker. BCHS was victorious! The girls tennis team has also won 14-4 against Silverado. The boys are doing great! They won against Cimarron 18-0 and won against Silverado 15-3.
The BCHS tennis team is doing fantastic and the coaches are for sure very proud of them! The team’s goals this season are to make post season play and hopefully go to state! Keep up the good work and keep cheering on your BCHS tennis team!
