Meleah Camphouse is one of Boulder City’s amazing seniors. She represents Boulder City High School to the peak and never fails to show her school spirit. Not only does Meleah contribute to the school band, jazz band, choir, winter guard, and robotics, she also plays a variety of sports.
As a senior, Meleah is very excited to get back into cross country, which is one of several sports she plays for the school. Meleah states, “It’s painful and a love-hate relationship, but something about finishing a race gives me such a good feeling.” She also mentions she’s very excited for the coming year, and she also plans to participate in diving and bowling.
While Meleah Camphouse is an amazing athlete she also provides key roles in the Boulder City High School music program. She plays the french horn and the mellophone for the band and also plays piano for the jazz band. Meleah says that she loves both the jazz band and the regular band the same but for different reasons. She loves the jazz band because she is able to feel the music and it is very musical for her, and she loves the regular band because of all the people and friends she gets to work with. As they prepare for this year’s marching show, Meleah is very excited for the music they are playing and she is grateful for her director, Dr. Holly. Meleah says, “Dr. Holly is really awesome, one of my favorite teachers, if not my favorite.”
Meleah also takes part in charity work, she volunteers when and wherever she can, including Crochet For a Cause. When I asked Meleah why she likes to put all this stuff on her plate she said, “I like to stay busy and a lot of what I do feels nice to do and be a part of. Like running cross country and being in the band, a lot of it is fulfilling, I also think I’d go a little crazy if I didn’t keep myself busy.”
Since Meleah is graduating this year she needs to be ready for her future. Meleah isn’t sure what she wants to be yet, but she is deciding between child physiology, physical therapy, or something in philosophy. I asked Meleah where she sees herself in 5 years and she said she wants to be in college, traveling the world, or settling down.
Lastly, I asked Meleah how she feels about graduating, and she said that she didn’t feel much of it now just because she still has a whole year. She knows she’ll be sad to leave all the amazing people she has met in high school. Overall, Meleah is an amazing part of BCHS!
