How to be an exemplary student and “Eagle”.
Being a Boulder City High School student is many things. It’s being well-rounded, encouraging, diligent, and joyful. But what else?
The eagle has been used throughout history to represent a multitude of things. It’s known as a symbol of strength, courage, freedom, immortality, and wisdom. But how should one go about implementing these qualities and demonstrating what it means to be a Boulder City “Eagle”?
Strength
Being strong means having the bravery to try new things. Lacking fear of mistakes, and instead taking pride in trying. Strength isn’t just a physical trait. It’s being persistent when things are tough and don’t go your way, it’s having the ability to be uplifting to others while also lifting up yourself.
Courage
Being courageous means going out of your comfort zone for the possibility of learning something from it. Going to social events, trying new clubs/sports, putting your best foot forward even if you might not succeed.
Immortality
Immortality, when it comes t
o being an “Eagle”, means having a good attitude and making good decisions, no matter where you may be. Never-ending displays of
kindness and integrity which are not just defined by being on school grounds or in a certain class.
Wisdom
Wisdom, in this case, means thinking before acting, and having the knowledge to make the b
est decisions. This can also be
an attribute which helps you give others what you believe is
the best advice, and helps them stay on the right path along with yourself.
There are many important qualities to have as an “Eagle”. However, it is not one “Eagle” which makes up the school, but all of them. So, don’t just focus on carrying these characteristics by yourself, but helping those around you. The most important value to carry is kindness. It’s much easier to fly when you’re soaring with others.
