From the time I started Kindergarten, I attended a small Christian Private School that had a little over seven hundred students from pre-k to 12th grade. So far these first few weeks of public school have been a huge change for me to adapt. I had never used a Chromebook before, I never got to wear my own clothes to school and I always had hours of homework to do. During my last year of middle school, I decided it was time to make a change and go to a Public High School. Boulder City High School seemed like the best option for me since
I have always heard such great things about the school. At first, this big change of schools was hard for me to adapt to, but now, I have gotten the hang of it, and have been able to see all the great things BCHS offers!
There is no doubt that Boulder City High School offers something special that other schools in our area do not have. Parents, students, and even teachers and administration agree. Freshman Lyla Gunson believes that our school’s sports are one of the greatest aspects of BCHS. There are many opportunities provided from sports, she states: “BCHS is awesome because it is a small community where almost anyone can make a sports team, and be a part of a great team!” BCHS has so many ways to get involved, such as student council, sports, and clubs, that many schools do not offer.
Another factor that makes our school so special is the community. Since Boulder City High School is such a small school, it feels like everyone is friends, or knows one another, regardless of what grade you are in. Before I started school, I came to soccer intramurals, and was able to make a lot of friends through all the grades before school started. BCHS is such a community, where most people know each other, unlike most schools. So far, I have loved my experience, and definitely agree that our school is unique from most schools. Overall, the school year has been such a fun change for me, and I can not wait for the next four years!
