Your future and career doesn’t have to just depend on textbooks, but can benefit by hands-on experience, leadership training, and real world competitions. SkillsUSA can help you build confidence, earn scholarships, and stand out to employers.
SkillsUSA is a national organization that helps students develop technical, leadership, and workplace skills through competitions and career focused activities. Here at BCHS, SkillsUSA students train and compete in events like automotive technology, public speaking, and more, preparing students for real world careers. Mr Tucker, the head of SkillsUSA at BCHS advises those interested in joining to talk to your CTE teacher or counselor to join. You usually join through your class or program. The SkillsUSA team goes to Reno, Nevada for SkillsUSA Nevada State Leadership and Skills Conference (SLSC). Students from all over the state compete in hands-on contests like automotive service technology, welding, CNC machining, cosmetology, construction trades, and Health Occupations. Winners may advance to the nationals where the top winners from each state move on to the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) held each June in Atlanta, Georgia. It’s the largest gathering of America’s future skilled workforce, featuring over 100 competitions. Students not only compete but also attend workshops, meet industry leaders, and can even get recruited on the spot.

SkillsUSA is a spectacular experience that you could join in to learn a lot of new skills and things you may not have known before. You get to have personal experiences and meet new people from all over. It can give you opportunities you’ve never experienced before. If you’re looking to build your future with confidence and hands-on experience, SkillsUSA is the perfect place for you!
